Split-case pump (split-case circulation), also known as a single-stage double-suction centrifugal pump, is characterised by its high flow capacity for conveying media.
Operating principle of split-case pumps: The impeller is mounted within the pump casing and secured to the pump shaft, which is directly driven by an electric motor. A liquid inlet at the centre of the casing connects to the suction pipe. Fluid enters the pump via the foot valve and suction pipe. The liquid discharge port on the casing connects to the discharge pipe. At a constant pump speed, the head and flow rate are dependent on the impeller diameter.
